Exciting changes are coming to the Middle School Ministry in January! Because the Manhattan School District is adding 6th grade students to the Middle Schools starting in the 2021-2022 season, we will be adding 6th grade students to our Middle School Ministry starting in January!
January 3rd will be first Sunday morning that we will be making this switch. That means that, starting in January, there will no longer be a class for 6th grade students in the KidZone! Instead, we are inviting 6th graders to join our Middle School class, The Way, in the youth building during the 9:30 service!
However, our main ministry for Middle School students is our Wednesday night youth group. Each Wednesday night our Middle School students meet in the youth building from 6:15-8:15pm to have some fun with each other, hear a relevant teaching for their stage of life, and dig deeper into the word in small groups led by adult volunteers. January 6th will be our first Wednesday night for 6th graders to join us full time.
I know that transitions like this can be a little bit intimidating for students. To, hopefully, help with this we are inviting all current 6th graders and their parents to our 6th Grade Preview Night on December 9th. This will be a normal youth group with some added elements to help welcome our 6th graders. Students will get a chance to see what youth group is all about, while parents will get to meet our staff and volunteers, hear about our heart for the ministry, and will be able to ask any questions that they might have. Parents are welcome to stay for the entire night or drop their students off and come back to pick them up.
Here is our schedule for that night:
6:25 - Students play a game while parents meet with Bryan
6:45 - A short screen game (with parents) and announcements
7:00 - The Lesson
7:15 - Small Groups (guided small groups for the 6th graders)
8:00 - Hang out and snacks
8:15 - Head home
Like everything right now, this is the plan unless COVID forces us to make adjustments. We are asking everyone who attends to wear a mask, temperatures are taken at the door, and if you have been feeling sick or have any symptoms of any kind, please stay home.
We are excited for this change and to continue to see our Middle School Ministry grow. I can't wait to meet all of our new 6th graders and their parents. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at email@example.com!
