OASIS Conference | November 5-6

 

WHAT IS OASIS? - This conference for middle school and high school students will be high energy, fun, while talking through topics relevant to students. The Theme is PURSUIT. In a world full of pursuing dreams, fame, success and satisfaction, it can be crazy to pause and think about the God over all of it actually pursuing us! Yet, that’s the God we serve! This weekend we’ll spend our worship sessions and activities looking at how 1) God pursues us through Jesus, 2) We then pursue Jesus, and 3) God uses us to pursue other people for Jesus.

WHO CAN ATTEND? - 6-12 graders that attend UCC and their 6-12 grade friends!

WHEN IS OASIS? - NOVEMBER 5-6 (Friday-Saturday). More details will be coming soon on specifics, but it will start Friday evening and end Saturday evening. 

WHERE IS OASIS? - Fortunately for us, the conference is right here in Manhattan! The event will take place at University Christian Church for the main sessions and at Manhattan Christian College for some fun activities.

WHERE ARE WE STAYING? - Students will be staying in host homes on Friday night. 

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND HOW DO I REGISTER?

• Early Registration: $50 due by Thursday, October 14th.
• Late Registration: $60 after Thursday, October 14th.

Additional spending money is optional for things like late night snacks, offering, conference merchandise such as t-shirts, etc..

WHAT FORMS DO I NEED?

• UCC Medical Release Form - must be current within the last year; if current, you don't need to turn in a new one.
• Oasis Release form

Both forms must be filled out by a parent/guardian so you can go to Oasis.

WHO IS THE SPEAKER? - Josh Griffin - Josh is one of the leading voices in youth ministry with 25+ years of experience in the trenches and is currently the junior high pastor at Mariners Church in Irvine, CA. He served for 13 years at Saddleback Church as the High School Pastor under the leadership of Rick Warren. He's also the co-founder of DownloadYouthMinistry.com and hosts an almost-400-episode youth ministry podcast with Doug Fields. He's created more than 50 youth ministry resources and authored several books. Josh and his wife Angela have 4 teenagers of their own. Josh really knows students, and he will bring engaging, practical, and life-impacting messages from God’s word this year.

WHO IS LEADING WORSHIP? - University Worship - A worship team assembled by University Christian Church in Manhattan will be leading students in high energy, high impact times of worship through song. University Worship is committed to excellence and has a deep desire to see students connect with God, and we're excited to have them at Oasis Middle School!

WHAT SHOULD I BRING? - Clothing, toiletries, towel, overnight sleep stuff (sleeping bag, pillow, PJs, favorite story books to read to your friends), Bible, journal or notebook, writing utensil, and a friend!
